Ibrahim Salami, one of the Cotonou-based lawyers of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo popularly called Sunday Igboho, has revealed what Nigerian government told their Benin Republic counterpart about the activist before he was arrested.<\/p>\n

Salami disclosed that the President Muhammadu Buhari led- federal government accused Igboho<\/a> of smuggling arms into Nigeria.<\/p>\n

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that\u00a0Igboho and his wife, Ropo, were arrested at the Cardinal Bernardin International Airport, Cotonou on Monday night while trying to catch a flight to Germany<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Salami, who is also a professor of law stated this on Saturday during an interview with BBC Yoruba.<\/p>\n

He said the Nigerian government also accused the freedom fighter of calling for secession and disturbing the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cNigerian government said Igboho was involved in arms trafficking into Nigeria.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe second one is that he is causing disturbances in Nigeria and the third one is that he is trying to divide Nigeria into two or three,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Recall that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) has launched a manhunt for Igboho after his Ibadan residence was invaded<\/a> by the Nigerian secret police agency.<\/p>\n

Spokesperson of the DSS, Dr Peter Afunanya, had disclosed that the freedom fighter house was invaded by a joint team of security operatives following intelligence reports he was stockpiling arms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
