{"id":62809,"date":"2021-07-27T04:25:48","date_gmt":"2021-07-27T03:25:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=62809"},"modified":"2021-07-27T04:25:48","modified_gmt":"2021-07-27T03:25:48","slug":"biafra-dss-may-have-killed-nnamdi-kanu-ipob-alleges-after-failure-to-produce-him-in-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/27\/biafra-dss-may-have-killed-nnamdi-kanu-ipob-alleges-after-failure-to-produce-him-in-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Biafra: DSS may have killed Nnamdi Kanu \u2013 IPOB alleges after failure to produce him in court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has cried out over failure of the Department of State Services, DSS, to produce its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, at the Federal High Court, Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>IPOB\u2019s spokesman, Emma Powerful, who raised the alarm, alleged that Kanu may have been killed in DSS custody.<\/p>\n<p>According to Powerful, the failure of DSS to produce the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/26\/prepare-prisons-build-mortuaries-for-us-ipob-members-dare-malami-as-they-vow-to-storm-kanus-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IPOB<\/a> leader points to the fact that he may be dead.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Binta Nyako had on Monday adjourned the case till October 22 due to the failure of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/26\/court-orders-dss-to-release-buharimustgo-protesters-arrested-at-dunamis-church\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DSS<\/a> to present Kanu in court.<\/p>\n<p>Powerful disclosed this in a statement, while reacting to the DSS action in court.<\/p>\n<p>The statement in part reads: \u201cWe the global family of Indigenous People of Biafra under the command and leadership of our great leader, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/26\/just-in-nnamdi-kanu-absent-as-court-adjourns-proceedings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nnamdi Kanu<\/a>, condemn the seek and hide attitude of the Department of State Services, DSS, and its systematic delay and failure to produce our leader in court today in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This was a deliberate and wicked plot to inflict further torture on our leader who they have kept incommunicado for some days now. In the past seven days, DSS has refused our lawyers and our leader&#8217;s family members access to him. This is wickedness!<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are no longer comfortable with this development. We have enough grounds to suspect foul play. With the failure of DSS to produce our leader in court today without any cogent reason and coupled with the torture meted out to him since his abduction in Kenya, we are worried about the safety of our leader.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The failure of DSS to produce our leader in court today is confirming our fear over the uncertainty concerning his health. Considering his deteriorating health condition since he was kidnapped and the refusal of DSS to grant him access to his personal physicians, it is possible that our leader may have been killed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;DSS should prove us wrong by producing our leader in court or granting his lawyers and family members access to him. We are running out of patience. Nigeria should not take IPOB for granted. Our leader must not die in detention.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We also demand unconditional release of all those arrested today in Abuja and other parts of the country for their solidarity with our leader.
