{"id":63661,"date":"2021-07-28T19:35:38","date_gmt":"2021-07-28T18:35:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=63661"},"modified":"2021-07-28T19:35:38","modified_gmt":"2021-07-28T18:35:38","slug":"breaking-blackout-as-national-power-grid-suffers-collapse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/28\/breaking-blackout-as-national-power-grid-suffers-collapse\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: Blackout as national power grid suffers collapse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The national grid, again, suffered a setback, on Wednesday, causing major blackouts in most parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p>The collapse, announced by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), occurred at about 12:26 pm on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued by the DisCos\u2019 Spokesman, Mr Oyebode Fadipe, in Abuja, it said only five per cent, that is 20MW as of press time has been allocated as against the over 400MWs it receives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been unable to serve our customers in Niger, Kogi and Nasarawa States as well as a significant portion of the entire Federal Capital Territory. At the moment, only 20MW has been allocated to AEDC as against the over 400MW that we have been receiving in recent times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge our customers to be patient and do promise that supply will be restored to our franchise area as soon as there is a significant improvement in our allocation,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>This is the third of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/05\/12\/breaking-blackout-worsens-as-national-power-grid-collapses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">collapses<\/a> the country has experienced this year as the first incidence was recorded in February, the second in May and the third in July 2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The national grid, again, suffered a setback, on Wednesday, causing major blackouts in most parts of the country.
