{"id":64086,"date":"2021-07-29T16:08:07","date_gmt":"2021-07-29T15:08:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=64086"},"modified":"2021-07-29T16:08:07","modified_gmt":"2021-07-29T15:08:07","slug":"oyo-assembly-speaker-ogundoyin-announces-dissolution-of-standing-committees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/29\/oyo-assembly-speaker-ogundoyin-announces-dissolution-of-standing-committees\/","title":{"rendered":"Oyo Assembly Speaker, Ogundoyin announces dissolution of standing committees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin has announced the dissolution of all standing committees of the House.<\/p>\n<p>Ogundoyin made this announcement during a plenary of the House on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/05\/07\/supreme-court-declares-dissolution-of-local-governments-in-oyo-illegal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dissolution<\/a> is with immediate effect.<\/p>\n<p>The standing committees were inaugurated shortly after the inauguration of the Assembly in June 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The Speaker has, however, announced the dissolution of all standing committees of the house.<\/p>\n<p>Ogundoyin while announcing the dissolution noted that the need to dissolve the committee was necessary in order to ensure that the Assembly became more efficient and effective.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the dissolution is normal as far as the legislature is concerned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStanding committees are one of the pillars of the legislature and the House of Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the second year in office, we expect to be more effective, we expect to be more efficient in our roles as legislature in terms of oversight functions, in terms of lawmaking and other functions of the legislature.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat happened in the parliament is normal.
