{"id":64692,"date":"2021-07-30T20:44:02","date_gmt":"2021-07-30T19:44:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=64692"},"modified":"2021-07-30T20:44:02","modified_gmt":"2021-07-30T19:44:02","slug":"el-zakzakys-wife-flown-abroad-for-treatment-after-acquittal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/30\/el-zakzakys-wife-flown-abroad-for-treatment-after-acquittal\/","title":{"rendered":"El-Zakzaky\u2019s wife flown abroad for treatment after acquittal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Barely 48 hours after being released from Department of State Services, DSS, custody, Mrs. Zeenat Ibraheem, wife of leader of Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has been flown abroad for treatment.<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that the IMN leader, Ibraheem Yaqoub <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/28\/court-frees-imn-leader-ibrahim-el-zakzaky-and-wife\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">El-Zakzaky<\/a> and his wife were on Wednesday July 28, discharged and acquitted by a Kaduna High Court from the eight charges filed against them by the State Government for lack of merit.<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered that El-Zakzaky&#8217;s son, Mohammed also travelled with her.<\/p>\n<p>Mohammed in a statement released on Friday July 30, said; \u201cAs you are aware, yesterday my father Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and Mother Zeenah Ibraheem have recently regained their freedom, after the Kaduna state High Court discharged and acquitted them of all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/30\/kaduna-files-fresh-charges-against-el-zakzaky\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">charges filed<\/a> by the current Kaduna State Administration.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-64698 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/07\/kunlenet07\/2021\/07\/30\/Zeenat-Ibraheem.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"649\" height=\"545\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/07\/kunlenet07\/2021\/07\/30\/Zeenat-Ibraheem.jpg 649w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/07\/kunlenet07\/2021\/07\/30\/Zeenat-Ibraheem-300x252.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 649px) 100vw, 649px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI along with our entire family, wish to especially thank those men, women and children who stood firm in the face of injustice, risking life and limb to demand justice and freedom for them, both inside and outside this country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf special note are the heroes who marched daily in Abuja non stop for 5 years, a monumental act of sacrifice seldom heard of and certainly unprecedented in the history of Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish to express our gratitude to human rights organizations who continued to help provide us with a voice during this difficult time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf special note Amnesty international, Human Rights Watch and especially The Islamic Human Rights Commission for ensuring that the Atrocities carried out in December 2015 could not be simply covered up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hail the efforts of free media and those journalists whose commitment to the truth shone even in the face of censorship, threats and often lethal violence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe commend your steadfastness and bravery, and wish to thank you for all those times you refused to turn a blind eye to tyranny, discrimination and other crimes being committed in the name of the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast but certainly not least I wish to thank my parent\u2019s competent and loyal legal team that was ably led by Chief Femi Falana SAN, who despite all the malicious maneuvers to delay, manipulate and obstruct judicial due process, the legal team persevered and ultimately prevailed.
