{"id":66629,"date":"2021-08-04T15:45:28","date_gmt":"2021-08-04T14:45:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=66629"},"modified":"2021-08-04T15:45:28","modified_gmt":"2021-08-04T14:45:28","slug":"just-in-after-one-month-in-detention-court-grants-igboho-supporters-bail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/04\/just-in-after-one-month-in-detention-court-grants-igboho-supporters-bail\/","title":{"rendered":"JUST IN: After one month in detention, court grants Igboho supporters bail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>12 supporters of Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Igboho who were arrested in Oyo state have been granted bail by a federal high court.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) had on July 1 raided Igboho&#8217;s residence in Oyo and arrested 12 of his supporters.<\/p>\n<p>According to report, the\u00a0arrested persons were subsequently moved to the federal capital territory <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/02\/fct-cj-resigns-takes-over-as-nji-administrator\/\">(FCT)<\/a> where they have been in detention.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, the suspects through their lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, filed an application asking the court to \u201cinquire into the circumstances constituting grounds of their arrest and detention since July 2, 2021, and where it deems fit admit applicants on bail\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>At the resumed hearing on Wednesday, Olajengbesi, counsel to the applicants, asked the court to admit his clients to bail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no need to continue to keep them with the respondents,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the bail application, David Awo, DSS counsel, had said he was not opposed to bail for the 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 11th applicants.<\/p>\n<p>He told the court that the remaining four applicants (2nd, 12th, 5th, and 6th) were still being investigated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>12 supporters of Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Igboho who were arrested in Oyo state have been granted bail by a federal high court.
