{"id":68105,"date":"2021-08-07T18:48:21","date_gmt":"2021-08-07T17:48:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=68105"},"modified":"2021-08-07T18:48:21","modified_gmt":"2021-08-07T17:48:21","slug":"sunday-igboho-challenge-anyone-soliciting-money-for-court-cases-lawyer-tells-nigerians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/07\/sunday-igboho-challenge-anyone-soliciting-money-for-court-cases-lawyer-tells-nigerians\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunday Igboho: Challenge anyone soliciting money for court cases, Lawyer tells Nigerians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the lawyers defending Yoruba nation agitator better known as Sunday Igboho has admonished Nigerians to challenge anyone soliciting money from them for prosecution of court cases involving the separatist, who is championing the agitation for the creation of Oduduwa Republic.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that Sunday Igboho\u2019s residence in Soka, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, was invaded by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, in July.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyer, Chief Yomi Aliyu has challenged the invasion and arrest of the 12 aides of the separatist and the two suits are at courts in Abuja and Ibadan.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to claims that some people have been soliciting money from prominent Yoruba sons and daughters in order to prosecute the cases, Aliyu in his reaction warned Nigerians against contributing money to anyone.<\/p>\n<p>He said that Igboho or his aides do not need any financial assistance in order to meet bail conditions.<\/p>\n<p>While speaking further, he added that financial assistance rendered by a few individuals have been turned down based on Igboho\u2019s instruction.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released to newsmen on Saturday, Aliyu regretted that many people and groups who have nothing to do with the case have been laying claims of sponsoring the suits.<\/p>\n<p>He insisted that no group or individual has contributed any money to the ongoing cases involving <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/05\/afenifere-reacts-as-court-stops-buhari-govt-from-arresting-sunday-igboho\/\">Igboho<\/a> and his aides in Abuja and Ibadan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has come to our notice that various groups and individuals that have nothing to do with the case filed by Chief Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Igboho Oosa have been laying claims to sponsoring the suits and\/or criticising decisions of court thereon<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to be quick to say that as of today no group and\/or individual has contributed a kobo to the two cases going on in Nigeria to wit, his aides\u2019 case in Abuja and the Ibadan matter,\u201d Alliyu said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVarious peanuts offered by some very loud groups have been turned down by me on my client\u2019s instructions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has been carrying his cross alone with no assistance from home or abroad! People should be brave to challenge any individual and\/or group asking them for money on bail on his behalf or those of his aides!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBail is free in all Courts in Nigeria and as such neither Igboho nor his aides need assistance on bail.
