This was because of a counter directive by Kanu\u2019s brother who said the exercise had been called off to allow students sitting for the NECO examination to do so.<\/p>\n<p>However, spokesperson of the group, Emma Powerful, quickly refuted the claim, saying the order was sacrosanct.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/07\/nnamdi-kanu-police-fumes-as-ipob-vows-to-commence-sit-at-home-monday\/\">Monday\u2019s sit-at-home<\/a> registered heavy compliance in Anambra, with banks, schools, markets, shops, eateries and other businesses deserted.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-68732\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/08\/ify_davies\/2021\/08\/09\/IMG_20210809_104751_842-1536x1152-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1536\" height=\"1152\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/08\/ify_davies\/2021\/08\/09\/IMG_20210809_104751_842-1536x1152-1.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/08\/ify_davies\/2021\/08\/09\/IMG_20210809_104751_842-1536x1152-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/08\/ify_davies\/2021\/08\/09\/IMG_20210809_104751_842-1536x1152-1-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/08\/ify_davies\/2021\/08\/09\/IMG_20210809_104751_842-1536x1152-1-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/08\/ify_davies\/2021\/08\/09\/IMG_20210809_104751_842-1536x1152-1-86x64.jpg 86w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1536px) 100vw, 1536px\" \/> The Anambra State Government had earlier threatened to withhold August salaries of workers who failed to resume for duties on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>At the state secretariat complex, it was also observed that most workers came to work because of the order but they left almost immediately after signing the attendance register.<\/p>\n<p>Motor parks were also deserted as motorists and passengers alike stayed away, leaving streets deserted.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report by Daily Post, two persons were killed in Nnewi very early in the morning at Izuchukwu junction for daring to come out.
