{"id":69033,"date":"2021-08-10T04:09:44","date_gmt":"2021-08-10T03:09:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=69033"},"modified":"2021-08-10T06:03:56","modified_gmt":"2021-08-10T05:03:56","slug":"i-didnt-impregnate-my-neighbours-17-year-old-daughter-man-tells-sharia-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/10\/i-didnt-impregnate-my-neighbours-17-year-old-daughter-man-tells-sharia-court\/","title":{"rendered":"I didn&#8217;t impregnate my neighbour\u2019s 17-year-old daughter, man tells Sharia court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One Rabiu Ibrahim has asked a Sharia Court in Zaria, Kaduna State to dismiss claims made by his neighbour\u2019s 17-year-old daughter that he got her pregnant.<\/p>\n<p>In his address to the court, Ibrahim\u2019s Counsel, Abdulhalim Umar told the court to hold that the minor failed to provide evidence to prove her claim.<\/p>\n<p>He, therefore, urged the court to discountenance her claims and disassociate him from the child delivered by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/20\/man-commits-suicide-after-being-accused-of-defiling-his-neighbours-minor-daughter-in-delta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">minor<\/a>. He said the claims of the girl that he forced her to sleep with him was proved as her friend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour honour, the defendant failed to prove where and when it happened neither did she provide witnesses to support this assertion as required by the Law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>However, on January 12, father of the minor, Hussain Abubakar, testified as Defence witness and said: said, \u201cMy daughter told me that Ibrahim <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/16\/how-officer-in-charge-of-suleja-prisons-allegedly-seduced-inmates-wife-impregnated-married-her\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">impregnated<\/a> her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI reported the matter at the Kasuwar Mata Police Division, Sabon Gari, and the police swung into action and detained him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis relations led by the plaintiff\u2019s uncle, Danbala Waje and the ward head of Jushin Waje, Malam Sule approached me for an amicable settlement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dI was given N15,000 to abort the pregnancy. I told them that my religion does not approve of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/12\/man-arrested-for-allegedly-procuring-abortion-which-resulted-in-girlfriends-death\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abortion<\/a> and I don\u2019t engage in such,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>This testimony was also challenged by the Plaintiff\u2019s counsel adding that the relatives of the Plaintiff cannot make acceptance of liability on behalf of the Plaintiff.<\/p>\n<p>After listening to the arguments, Alhaji Shittu Umar, the presiding judge fixed Aug. 30 for judgment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One Rabiu Ibrahim has asked a Sharia Court in Zaria, Kaduna State to dismiss claims made by his neighbour\u2019s 17-year-old daughter that he got her pregnant.
