{"id":69087,"date":"2021-08-10T06:55:48","date_gmt":"2021-08-10T05:55:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=69087"},"modified":"2021-08-10T06:55:48","modified_gmt":"2021-08-10T05:55:48","slug":"death-of-4-yaraduas-son-released-from-prison-after-alleged-settlement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/10\/death-of-4-yaraduas-son-released-from-prison-after-alleged-settlement\/","title":{"rendered":"Death of 4: Yar\u2019Adua\u2019s son released from prison after alleged settlement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aminu Yar\u2019Adua, son of late former President Umaru Musa Yar\u2019Adua, has reportedly been released from prison over the killing of four people in a car accident in Yola, Adamawa state capital..<\/p>\n<p>WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/06\/late-president-yaraduas-son-in-prison-for-allegedly-crushing-4-to-death\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">36-year-old was last Thursday remanded in prison for allegedly killing four people<\/a> in an auto crash in Yola.<\/p>\n<p>According to the police First Information Report (FIR) tendered in court, the accused, while driving along the Yola bye-pass on the fateful June 23, ran over six people as a result of overspeeding.<\/p>\n<p>The court heard that four of the victims were killed and the other two were injured in the accident.<\/p>\n<p>Aminu, who is a student of American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, had pleaded not guilty in court, prompting the prosecutor to plead with the court to adjourn the matter so that he could duplicate the case file and forward it to the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.<\/p>\n<p>The Magistrate, Jummai Ibrahim, had granted the prosecution\u2019s request and adjourned the matter to August 19, 2021, for further mention, and ordered that Aminu be remanded in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/09\/court-remands-chidinma-in-prison-over-super-tv-ceos-murder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prison<\/a> custody until the August 19 adjourned date.<\/p>\n<p>DAILY POST, however, reported that prison and court sources revealed on Monday that Aminu Yar\u2019Adua had been released after a settlement between his family and the families of the four people killed in the accident.<\/p>\n<p>A close relative of one of the deceased, Aisha Umar, said in confidence that they were taken to the Magistrate court where they were asked to leave the matter to God and that they obliged and left the matter.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecuting Magistrate\u2019s Court had earlier been told that the relatives of late Aisha Umar, Suleiman Abubakar, and Jummai Abubakar had demanded the sum of N15 million from Aminu as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/04\/igboho-writes-fg-demands-n500m-compensation-for-damage-to-house-cars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">compensation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Following Aminu\u2019s sudden release, it was alleged that his family paid out the N15 million, but Aisha Umar\u2019s relative said no money exchanged hands between Aisha\u2019s family and the Yar\u2019Aduas\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were not given a penny. If there is any arrangement, we were not aware of it as a family,\u201d the relative said.<\/p>\n<p>A source close to Aminu Yar\u2019Adua insisted, however, that N15 million went from Aminu to the bereaved families.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can confidently tell you that there was a settlement between the Yar\u2019Adua family and the families of the victims.\u201d He insisted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aminu Yar\u2019Adua, son of late former President Umaru Musa Yar\u2019Adua, has reportedly been released from prison over the killing of four people in a car accident in Yola, Adamawa state capital..
