Accord Party has unveiled Godwin Maduka as its candidate in the November 6 governorship election in Anambra state.<\/p>\n

Recall that Maduka was one of the\u00a0Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirants in the primary election which was held on June 26.<\/p>\n

The chairman of Accord Party in the state, Bartholomew Igwedibia unveiled Godwin Maduka at a ceremony on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Alex Nwankwo, a media practitioner and publicist, had initially emerged as the governorship candidate of Accord.<\/p>\n

Reacting to\u00a0his emergence as the new flagbearer, Maduka said he left PDP<\/a> for Accord because the party did not conduct proper primaries to pick its candidate.<\/p>\n

\u201cPDP never really had an election, it was selection that took place in the primaries and I was not selected. I have nothing against the PDP and I have moved on,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut the people of Anambra<\/a> are still yearning for my candidacy, which is why I began searching for a party that upholds discipline and integrity. I found Accord. It is a party\u00a0 I can work with.<\/p>\n

\u201cAccord is the only vibrant political party in the state, considering the fact that the party has more grassroots support in\u00a0Anambra.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maduka said he was in politics to promote the state in human and infrastructure development.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have lived in the US for over 40 years and I want to replicate some of the developmental projects I have done there in Anambra. I will start by tackling social welfare such as hunger,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cSecondly, I will prioritise security, road construction, employment, healthcare, education\u00a0 and sports development.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore importantly, I have the vision to make Anambra the hub for medical tourism,\u00a0 with my western experience as a medical practitioner.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I become governor, our administration will be gender inclusive, our women will be given the chance to fully participate in governance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maduka expressed optimism in Accord\u2019s victory at the poll, adding that his \u201cfriends in PDP and APGA\u201d will vote for him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
