{"id":71814,"date":"2021-08-16T15:18:44","date_gmt":"2021-08-16T14:18:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=71814"},"modified":"2021-08-16T15:18:44","modified_gmt":"2021-08-16T14:18:44","slug":"nigeria-to-receive-698880-doses-of-astrazeneca-vaccine-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/16\/nigeria-to-receive-698880-doses-of-astrazeneca-vaccine-today\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria to receive 698,880 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Government on Monday has announced that Nigeria will today receive 698,880 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>The Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Faisal Shauib, disclosed this during the flag off of the second phase of vaccination in Abuja on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Shuaib, the development will cover those who have not taken the second doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine and those who will like to take their first shots of the AstraZeneca.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, amidst the raging third wave of the pandemic, the country on Monday commenced the second phase vaccination of its citizens against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/14\/nigeria-records-636-new-covid-19-cases-11-deaths\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">virus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi Abuja, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, said the second phase would be largely prosecuted with the about 4 million doses of Moderna vaccines, which were recently donated by the government of the United States of America.<\/p>\n<p>Mustapha, who doubles as the chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC), said the country received another 177,600 doses of Johnson and Johnson (J&amp;J) COVID-19 vaccines from the African Union (AU).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe arrival of the 4,000,080 doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine donated by the Government of the United States and the 177,600 doses of Johnson &amp; Johnson vaccines out of the 29,850,000 doses the Federal Government has purchased through the Africa-Import-Export Bank and the African Union, is highly encouraging and motivating for us at the Presidential Steering Committee,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Government on Monday has announced that Nigeria will today receive 698,880 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
