{"id":72316,"date":"2021-08-17T20:36:51","date_gmt":"2021-08-17T19:36:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=72316"},"modified":"2021-08-17T20:36:51","modified_gmt":"2021-08-17T19:36:51","slug":"makinde-gets-assemblys-approval-for-fresh-n6b-loan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/17\/makinde-gets-assemblys-approval-for-fresh-n6b-loan\/","title":{"rendered":"Makinde gets Assembly\u2019s approval for fresh N6b loan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Oyo Assembly has approved an additional N6billion credit facility for Governor Seyi Makinde.<\/p>\n<p>The approval follows a request letter to the lawmakers by the Governor on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The figure is made up of an additional N5billion loan facility and the balance of N1billion window both of the First Bank Nigeria Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>In the letter sent to the lawmakers, Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/17\/fg-breaks-silence-on-increasing-fuel-price-to-n300-litre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Makinde<\/a> noted the N6billion loan request in favour of Oyo State Government contractors is to ensure seamless execution of contracts awarded by the State Government in bridging infrastructural deficit.<\/p>\n<p>The letter reads: \u201cThe Governor-in-council met and approved that an additional N5billion loan facility and the balance of N1billion window both of the First Bank Nigeria Ltd. be made available to the Oyo State government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe total sum will be used to finance the existing projects in the State.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin said the Assembly will continue to monitor the spending and expenses of the Executive Council and ensure the loans approved will be judiciously used on developing and completing ongoing infrastructural projects in the State.<\/p>\n<p>Majority Leader, Hon Sanjo Adedoyin representing Ogbomoso North State constituency, said it was important to expand the economy which will be difficult if there are no enough infrastructures on the ground to attract and drive development.<\/p>\n<p>While moving a motion for the approval, he said: \u201cIf we cannot afford to abandon all ongoing lofty developmental projects, then we need funds to complete them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also at Tuesday\u2019s plenary, the Assembly announced plans to screen the State Audit Commission Chairman nominee, Mr David Okediji on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman\u2019s designate is to man the newly established Oyo State Audit Service Commission following the recent passage of the Audit Commission Bill, 2021 by the Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement also follows a request sent to the House by Governor Makinde.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oyo Assembly has approved an additional N6billion credit facility for Governor Seyi Makinde.
