{"id":74369,"date":"2021-08-23T15:23:01","date_gmt":"2021-08-23T14:23:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=74369"},"modified":"2021-08-23T15:23:01","modified_gmt":"2021-08-23T14:23:01","slug":"mtn-nigeria-to-invest-over-n600bn-in-network-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/23\/mtn-nigeria-to-invest-over-n600bn-in-network-infrastructure\/","title":{"rendered":"MTN Nigeria to invest over N600bn in network infrastructure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MTN Nigeria, largest network by market share has disclosed that it will invest over N600 billion in network infrastructure over the next three years to improve telecommunications service across the country.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed by the chairman of MTN Nigeria, Ernest Ndukwe during the 20th anniversary celebration of the teleco giant held on Sunday in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>Ndukwe stressed the firm\u2019s commitment to specifically expand its rural connectivity to reach areas that were underserved across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe plan to connect approximately 1000 rural <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/18\/petroleum-industry-act-will-bring-real-and-last-benefits-buhari-tells-host-communities\/\">communities<\/a> to our network this year with an additional 2000 communities in 2022,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMTN Nigeria will be investing over N600 billion naira in the next three years on national infrastructure networks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are also committed to extend out rural infrastructure networks to areas under served and served.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also expressed optimism about what the future holds for Nigeria\u2019s digital economy and looked forward to building it together with all stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>Also speaking at the event, Karl Toriola, CEO MTN Nigeria, restated the firm\u2019s planned participation in the restoration and rehabilitation of the Onitsha-Enugu expressway through the federal government&#8217;s road\u00a0infrastructure tax credit (RITC) scheme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a response to government\u2019s drive towards public-private partnership in the rehabilitation of critical road infrastructure in Nigeria,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve initiated plans for the construction of a purpose-built, state-of-the-art head office in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will also be selling down 14 per cent of MTN shares to over two million Nigerian retail investors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He expressed appreciation to the government for its vision in liberalising the telecommunications sector and the robust framework developed by the regulators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe firmly believe that Nigeria\u2019s digital journey is only just beginning and that the future is filled with promises,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorking together, we can and will build the more prosperous and inclusive future we seek and empower even more Nigerian to do greater things.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MTN Nigeria, largest network by market share has disclosed that it will invest over N600 billion in network infrastructure over the next three years to improve telecommunications service across the country.
