Former Juventus president, Giovanni Cobolli Gigli, has said the club made a mistake by signing Cristiano Ronaldo.<\/p>\n

Gigli also claimed Ronaldo is hindering the club\u2019s efforts to win back the Serie A title and wants him sold before the summer transfer window closes.<\/p>\n

Ronaldo<\/a> joined Juve from Real Madrid in a \u20ac100million transfer before the 2018\/2019 campaign.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old is now into the final year of his contract.<\/p>\n

But Gigli, who was Juve\u2019s president between 2006 and 2009, told SerieANews: \u201cI\u2019ve always been honest: signing Ronaldo was a mistake. It\u2019s impossible to recoup the investment and it will remain that way.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a great player, but I have to be honest \u2013 the sooner he leaves, the better for him and for Juventus.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope that [Juve head coach] Massimiliano Allegri knows how to continue using him like he did against Udinese. That is, with intelligence and when the game is in progress.<\/p>\n
