Schmidt also failed to secure a spot in the line up for the preliminary 4x400m relays.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-75199\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/08\/chioma_adebiyi\/2021\/08\/25\/61264effe0de1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"615\" height=\"769\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/08\/chioma_adebiyi\/2021\/08\/25\/61264effe0de1.jpg 615w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/08\/chioma_adebiyi\/2021\/08\/25\/61264effe0de1-240x300.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019ve worked harder than ever before day in day out pushed my limits in every workout and made so many sacrifices,&#8221; the athlete wrote alongside a collage of photos and videos from her training sessions throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was not an easy year with my Covid Infection and torn ligaments but nevertheless, I know what I am capable of and I\u2018m hungry for more. Now, I\u2019m going to take a break and I\u2019m looking forward to coming back feeling fresh and ready to train hard again.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In May, Schmidt expressed how grateful she was to be running outdoors again after suffering a &#8220;torn ligament and some muscular problems,&#8221; she explained in an Instagram post.<\/p>\n<p>Despite not competing at the Summer Games, Schmidt gained popularity on Instagram for her videos documenting her experience inside the Olympic Village.
