{"id":80313,"date":"2021-09-09T07:53:48","date_gmt":"2021-09-09T06:53:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=80313"},"modified":"2021-09-09T07:53:48","modified_gmt":"2021-09-09T06:53:48","slug":"lppc-releases-shortlist-of-130-lawyers-for-san-rank-full-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/09\/lppc-releases-shortlist-of-130-lawyers-for-san-rank-full-list\/","title":{"rendered":"LPPC releases shortlist of 130 lawyers for SAN rank (FULL LIST)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Legal Practitioners\u2019 Privileges Committee (LPPC) has released a shortlist of 130 lawyers qualified for the award of the highly coveted Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) rank for 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Hajo Bello, the Acting Chief Registrar of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/06\/supreme-court-gets-new-chief-registrar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Supreme Court<\/a>, who doubles as the secretary of the LPPC, issued the notice on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>She said the list comprising 95 lawyers in the advocate category and 35 in the academy category was drawn after the first stage of the appointment process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Legal Practitioners\u2019 Privileges Committee by this notice makes an announcement on the shortlisted candidates that qualified after both the advocate filtration stages and academic pre-qualification exercise, preparatory to the award of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria for the year 2021,\u201d the notice stated in part.<\/p>\n<p>All qualified candidates shortlisted were \u201cgraded under the category system\u201d of the LPPC, Ms Bello said.<\/p>\n<p>The final list of the successful ones among the shortlisted candidates are to be announced after the second stage of the selection process in October.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Bello invited members of the public \u201cto comment on the integrity, reputation and competence\u201d of the shortlisted candidates.<\/p>\n<p>All of such comments must reach the LPPC secretariat or the committee\u2019s email not later than 4p.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, she said.<\/p>\n<p>The notice added that \u201cany complaint (s) presented to the Legal Practitioners\u2019 Privileges Committee must be accompanied with a verifying affidavit deposed to before a court of record in Nigeria\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the shortlisted candidates include: the Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice of Ekiti State, and Olawale Fapohunda, a prosecutor with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Rotimi Oyedepo.<\/p>\n<p>Also on the list are, the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Tony Ojukwu; a police prosecutor, Simon Lough, and lawyers with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Sulayman Olawale, and Sani Mohammed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Full list:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>LEGAL PRACTITIONERS PRIVILEGES COMMITTEE<\/p>\n<p>SUPREME COURT OF NIGERIA<br \/>\nTHREE ARMS ZONE, SUPREME COURT COMPLEX,<br \/>\nP.M.B. 308, ABUJA, NIGERIA<br \/>\nTel: 09-2344762<\/p>\n<p>NOTICE OF CANDIDATES SHORTLISTED FOR CONSIDERATION FOR THE CONFERMENT OF THE RANK OF SENIOR ADVOCATE OF NIGERIA \u2013 2021<\/p>\n<p>(PURSUANT TO PARAGRAPH 12 (2) AND 20 OF THE LEGAL PRACTITIONERS\u2019 PRIVILEGES COMMITTEE GUIDELINES 2018)<\/p>\n<p>The Legal Practitioners\u2019 Privileges Committee by this notice makes an announcement on the shortlisted candidates that qualified after both the advocate filtration stages and academic pre-qualification exercise, preparatory to the award of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria for the year 2021.<\/p>\n<p>2.
