On Friday, a 48-year-old man, named Mark Onuoha, was arraigned in an Ikorodu Magistrates\u2019 Court in Lagos State, for reportedly biting off a woman\u2019s ear.<\/p>\n

Onuoha, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, was charged with assault and causing grievous bodily harm<\/a>, NAN reports.<\/p>\n

The prosecutor, Inspector Christian Okonofua, narrated to the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug. 31 at 7 at Itowolo, Ikorodu area of Lagos state.<\/p>\n

Okonofua said the defendant assaulted one Mrs Rebecca Amosun by biting her up and biting off her left ear.<\/p>\n

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravenes Sections 245 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.<\/p>\n

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 173 provides for one-year jail term for assault.<\/p>\n

The Magistrate, Mrs T. A. Shotobi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N25,000 with two sureties in like sum.<\/p>\n
