{"id":81820,"date":"2021-09-13T12:44:25","date_gmt":"2021-09-13T11:44:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=81820"},"modified":"2021-09-13T12:44:25","modified_gmt":"2021-09-13T11:44:25","slug":"why-we-are-establishing-a-base-in-kano-navy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/13\/why-we-are-establishing-a-base-in-kano-navy\/","title":{"rendered":"Why we are establishing a base in Kano &#8211; Navy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Navy has stated that it is establishing a base in Kano state because it is intended to be home to the newly-created Nigerian Navy Logistics College.<\/p>\n<p>This clarification was made by the Nigerian navy following criticisms over its decision to site a base in the north-western state.<\/p>\n<p>This was contained in a statement released by naval spokesman,\u00a0Suleman Dahun.<\/p>\n<p>According to naval spokesman, all naval establishments and units are called bases notwithstanding their physical location.<\/p>\n<p>Dahun said the navy\u2019s decision is strategic in decongesting its presence in Lagos state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe navy board recently approved the establishment of 3 new naval bases in Lekki, Oguta and Kano. Out of these three locations, the decision to site a base in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/11\/proposed-kano-train-station-will-be-like-ebute-meta-mega-station-fg\/\">Kano<\/a> has elicited debates and commentaries in the public,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe base in Kano is intended to be home of the newly created Nigerian Navy Logistics College. For the benefit of doubt and the reading public, the Nigerian Navy is currently involved in various internal security operations beyond its primary maritime security roles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAside from serving as a training establishment for Nigerian Navy logisticians, the base will also support NN operations in the hinterland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMembers of the public are requested to note that the Nigerian Navy took a strategic decision to decongest its presence in Lagos area by expanding to other locations other than Lagos, Calabar, Warri and Port Harcourt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis decision led to the establishment of the Nigerian Navy Finance and Logistics College in Owerrinta, Abia State, Nigerian Navy School of Armament Technology in Kachia, Kaduna as well as the School of Health Sciences in Offa, Kwara state.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Navy has stated that it is establishing a base in Kano state because it is intended to be home to the newly-created Nigerian Navy Logistics College.
