{"id":82798,"date":"2021-09-16T04:28:50","date_gmt":"2021-09-16T03:28:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=82798"},"modified":"2021-09-16T05:10:02","modified_gmt":"2021-09-16T04:10:02","slug":"fake-nurse-arrested-after-working-for-three-months-in-lagos-govt-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/16\/fake-nurse-arrested-after-working-for-three-months-in-lagos-govt-hospital\/","title":{"rendered":"Fake General Hospital nurse arrested after working for three-months in Lagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A woman, Olufunke Adegbenro, who works as a nurse in the Isolo General Hospital has been arrested for allegedly practising with a fake licence in Lagos state.<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered that Adegbenro, who was employed in July 2021 by the Lagos State Health Service Commission was caught during a verification exercise by officials of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwifery after allegedly collecting three months\u2019 salaries from the state government.<\/p>\n<p>According to PUNCH, Adegbenro allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/08\/adamawa-police-arrest-fake-corps-member-with-forged-hnd-certificate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">forged<\/a> a Bachelor of Nursing degree from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, a National Youth Service Corps discharge certificate, a registered nurse certificate from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, and a practising licence to get the job.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the NANNM, Lagos State, Olurotimi Awojide, who confirmed the incident, said his attention was drawn to the incident after verification officers discovered the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/07\/slay-queen-arrested-by-efcc-shortly-after-showing-off-sentenced-to-3-years-in-prison-for-internet-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fraud<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cAbout two weeks ago, we started our verification of practising licence in all our hospitals and the major reason was that we wanted to know those who had yet to renew their licence and that was when someone saw the licence and saw that it was different and not like others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur attention was brought to it and as the chairman of the association, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/05\/27\/nbc-suspends-licence-of-ahmad-isahs-human-rights-radio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">licence<\/a> was forwarded to me for scrutiny and I also confirmed that it was fake.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went to meet her to answer questions and get her documents. We invited policemen, who arrested her and took her to a police station. She did not deny any of the allegations; she confirmed that all the certificates with her were fake and the person that helped her to produce them was based in Ibadan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The matter was said to have been reported at the Lions Building Police Station.<\/p>\n<p>The Director of Nursing Services, Lagos State Health Service Commission, Olaide Animashaun, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, but declined to comment on the matter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A woman, Olufunke Adegbenro, who works as a nurse in the Isolo General Hospital has been arrested for allegedly practising with a fake licence in Lagos state.
