{"id":83459,"date":"2021-09-17T15:46:33","date_gmt":"2021-09-17T14:46:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=83459"},"modified":"2021-09-17T15:46:33","modified_gmt":"2021-09-17T14:46:33","slug":"cbn-to-shut-down-aboki-fx-website-over-exchange-rate-speculation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/17\/cbn-to-shut-down-aboki-fx-website-over-exchange-rate-speculation\/","title":{"rendered":"CBN to shut down Aboki FX website over exchange rate speculation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Central Bank of Nigeria has said that it will shut down the operations of Aboki FX, a provider of currency exchange information, which the bank described as an illegal and criminal platform.<\/p>\n<p>The Governor of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/15\/cbn-to-launch-n15trn-infrastructure-fund-in-october\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBN<\/a>, Godwin Emefiele, who disclosed this while fielding questions after the Monetary policy committee\u2019s two-day meeting in Abuja on Friday, noted that the bank also plans to prosecute the owner of the platform, Olusegun Oniwinde.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cI have given instructions to our experts to go after his website and let it be clear that we will go after him, because we can\u2019t allow this to continue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the Emefiele, the CBN doesn\u2019t recognize any forex market window besides the Investors and Exporters window.<\/p>\n<p>But the website, Aboki FX, is still up as of time of filing this report.<\/p>\n<p>Naira-dollar exchange rate has soared on the platform in the last couple of days.
