{"id":83954,"date":"2021-09-18T20:01:52","date_gmt":"2021-09-18T19:01:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=83954"},"modified":"2021-09-18T20:01:52","modified_gmt":"2021-09-18T19:01:52","slug":"umahi-sabotaged-pdp-in-2019-elections-pdp-governors-allege","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/18\/umahi-sabotaged-pdp-in-2019-elections-pdp-governors-allege\/","title":{"rendered":"Umahi sabotaged PDP in 2019 elections, PDP governors allege"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi of sabotaging the party during the 2019 elections while he was still a member.<\/p>\n<p>The PDP governors made this allegation on Saturday, in a statement titled \u2018Umahi should face APC misrule and his frustrations,\u2019 signed by the Director General of the PDP-GF Hon. CID Maduabum, in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that Umahi had, in a television interview, said, \u201cOne or two governors that own PDP, their body language suggests that they are against zoning and I can tell you from reliable source that they are thinking just for their own interest.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads in part, \u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/09\/pdp-governors-will-unite-and-rescue-nigeria-from-apc-says-tambuwal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PDP Governors<\/a> Forum is outraged at the attempt by the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, who illegally and immoraly [sic] sits on a PDP mandate and calls himself an APC Governor, to turn truth on its head.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUmahi left PDP for APC, according to him, because of the love he has for President Buhari, among other flimsy reasons, irrespective of the maladministration and daily incidents of destruction of lives and properties currently going on in Ebonyi State and the entire country under the watch of APC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUmahi <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/05\/buharis-effort-in-addressing-doctors-strike-being-sabotaged-says-nma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sabotaged<\/a> the PDP in 2019 elections in his quest to deliver 25 percent to his APC benefactors. It took the determined resistance of Ebonyi people to checkmate him. It was good riddance that he subsequently left PDP for APC instead of continuing his role as an APC mole.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On the issue of zoning, the PDP governors\u00a0 said, \u201cWe advise <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/17\/ffk-was-not-instrumental-in-my-defection-to-apc-umahi-discloses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Umahi<\/a> to face his frustrations in APC and not drag PDP and her governors into it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPDP is an independent political party with workable structures and method of doing things. It\u2019s not an appendage of the APC or, indeed, any other association or group.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe PDP will take its decision on the issue of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/12\/you-were-in-school-when-north-south-agreed-on-zoning-ohanaeze-slams-yahaya-bello\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">zoning<\/a> political offices at the appropriate time. Even the APC has not taken any decision yet on zoning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDifferent groups and interests are advancing arguments to defend their positions as is required in a democracy. At the end of the day, decisions will be taken by each political party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe PDP is single minded in its resolve to boot out the APC in 2023 and would craft strategies to achieve same in the national interest as APC currently represents an existential threat to Nigeria\u2019s democracy and survival.
