{"id":86488,"date":"2021-09-25T20:48:22","date_gmt":"2021-09-25T19:48:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=86488"},"modified":"2021-09-25T20:48:22","modified_gmt":"2021-09-25T19:48:22","slug":"uba-publishes-names-account-numbers-of-forex-policy-defaulters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/25\/uba-publishes-names-account-numbers-of-forex-policy-defaulters\/","title":{"rendered":"UBA publishes names, account numbers of \u2018forex policy defaulters\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United Bank of Africa (UBA) has released names and account numbers of some customers alleged to have violated the forex policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the CBN had directed Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) to set up teller points to meet legitimate FX demands &#8211; this was after the apex bank haltef the sale of FX to\u00a0Bureau De Change operators.<\/p>\n<p>The UBA had also asked customers to submit only genuine documents to obtain FX for personal and business travel, as well as payment for overseas education and other eligible transactions.<\/p>\n<p>According to UBA, the decision to publish the customers\u2019 details is in line with the directives by the CBN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn compliance with the directive of Central Bank of Nigeria mandating banks to publish the names of defaulters of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/12\/cbn-to-banks-desist-from-forex-malpractices-or-face-suspension\/\">forex<\/a> exchange regulation, based on regulatory directives, the following customers cancelled their trip and failed to return the PTA availed to them despite several mails, text messages and follow up phone calls,\u201d the publication reads.<\/p>\n<p>The bank also included the name of a customer, who allegedly \u201cpresented fake visa to apply for PTA\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The names and account numbers are listed in a publication on its website titled, &#8216;CBN FX defaulters&#8217;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The United Bank of Africa (UBA) has released names and account numbers of some customers alleged to have violated the forex policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
