{"id":87949,"date":"2021-09-30T06:42:24","date_gmt":"2021-09-30T05:42:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=87949"},"modified":"2021-09-30T07:13:59","modified_gmt":"2021-09-30T06:13:59","slug":"bank-guards-in-court-for-allegedly-stealing-n2-4m-from-atm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/30\/bank-guards-in-court-for-allegedly-stealing-n2-4m-from-atm\/","title":{"rendered":"ATM Cash stolen as Lagos Bank staff forgets to lock door &#8216;after loading&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two bank security guards were on Wednesday arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing N2.4 million from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM).<\/p>\n<p>The defendants were identified as; 43-yaer-old Friday Audu, of Oyewole compound in Iyana Ipaja, and 40-yaer-old Haruna Anaja, of Irepodun street, Oja Oba in Abule Egba.<\/p>\n<p>The duo face charges bordering on conspiracy, receiving stolen property and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/24\/i-specialize-in-stealing-from-mfm-and-redeem-suspect-tells-police\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stealing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor, Insp. Olusegun Oke, told the court that the offences were committed on August 5 at 13 Joel Ogunaike Street, Ikeja after a staff member, who loaded money inside the ATM, forgot to lock the door.<\/p>\n<p>The first defendant received the stolen items from the second defendant. Eleven <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/02\/notorious-atm-fraudster-arrested-with-1-6m-in-katsina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ATM<\/a> cards bearing different names were recovered from them.<\/p>\n<p>The offences contravened sections 287, 328, 329 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The case was adjourned until November 3 after Audu and Anaja pleaded not guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n<p>The Magistrate, D. S.
