Barely 6 hours after the company’s flagship products collapsed, the net worth of Mark Zuckerberg, founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Facebook fell by nearly $7 billion.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0Bloomberg<\/a><\/strong>, a selloff plummeted Facebook\u2019s stock around 5 percent on Monday.<\/p>\n

The stock slide dropped Zuckerberg\u2019s worth to $128 billion on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.<\/p>\n

Besides the shutdown, a whistleblower had earlier disclosed\u00a0that the company prioritised profit over the public good.<\/p>\n

Frances Haugen, a 37-year-old former Facebook employee, alleged that\u00a0Facebook<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0knows its platforms are used to spread hate, violence and misinformation<\/a>, and that the company tried to hide that evidence.<\/p>\n

She filed complaints with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that the company is hiding research about its shortcomings from investors and the public.<\/p>\n

WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook all gone down in what appeared to be another global outage.<\/p>\n

According to data on Downdetector, the three social media platforms \u2014 owned by Mark Zuckerberg \u2014 completely stopped working shortly before 5 pm (GMT+1) on Monday, leaving millions of users worried.<\/p>\n

In a Twitter post, Facebook said it is aware of the issue and working to fix it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We\u2019re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience,\u201d the company tweeted.<\/p>\n
