{"id":90549,"date":"2021-10-07T12:06:54","date_gmt":"2021-10-07T11:06:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=90549"},"modified":"2021-10-07T12:06:54","modified_gmt":"2021-10-07T11:06:54","slug":"driver-injured-as-truck-collides-with-moving-train-in-kano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/07\/driver-injured-as-truck-collides-with-moving-train-in-kano\/","title":{"rendered":"Driver injured as truck collides with moving train in Kano"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A truck conveying sand collided with a moving train along Ahmadu Bello Way, Nassarawa GRA in Kano metropolis leaving the driver bleeding.<\/p>\n<p>The over-speeding truck was said to have reportedly hit the moving train on Wednesday morning around 6:00am, leading to the truck driver sustaining injury.<\/p>\n<p>According to Daily Trust, an eyewitness, Sama\u2019ila Umar, said there was no casualty in the accident, except for the injured driver and a car that was destroyed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/07\/video-nigerian-woman-charged-with-attempted-murder-after-shoving-commuter-into-oncoming-nyc-subway-train\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">train<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The moving train, carrying passengers was blaring its horn so loud. When I heard it, I came out and we stopped the vehicles from crossing the rail line. Some of them stopped, while others crossed so fast. The tipper was over-speeding, so it couldn\u2019t stop, it came and hit the train and somersaulted by the roadside,&#8221; he narrated.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The driver was bleeding from the nose as he was the only one in the vehicle. He was not seriously injured, just the bleeding on his face, but the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/07\/03\/tipper-crushes-blind-man-to-death-in-edo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tipper<\/a> got really damaged as the result of the collision,\u201d Umar added.<\/p>\n<p>It was learnt that the collision necessitated the blockage of the road for some hours and commuters had to use other alternative routes before operatives of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) evacuated the train coaches.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-90552 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/10\/kunlenet07\/2021\/10\/07\/Truck-collides-with-train-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/10\/kunlenet07\/2021\/10\/07\/Truck-collides-with-train-2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/10\/kunlenet07\/2021\/10\/07\/Truck-collides-with-train-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/10\/kunlenet07\/2021\/10\/07\/Truck-collides-with-train-2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2021\/10\/kunlenet07\/2021\/10\/07\/Truck-collides-with-train-2-86x64.jpg 86w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The FRSC Sector Commander in Kano, Mato Zubairu said the accident was as a result of reckless driving and over-speeding.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When we received the news of the accident, our operatives went there and blocked the road, until we used our crane to evacuate the tipper and the train coaches. There was no casualty except for the loss of property as the vehicle was completely damaged. But the tipper driver is hale and hearty,&#8221; Zubairu said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is unfortunate that the driver is just 20 years old, obviously his tender age could have contributed to the problem.
