{"id":90814,"date":"2021-10-08T06:15:29","date_gmt":"2021-10-08T05:15:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=90814"},"modified":"2021-10-08T06:15:29","modified_gmt":"2021-10-08T05:15:29","slug":"pdp-nec-approves-zoning-of-chairmanship-position-to-north","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/08\/pdp-nec-approves-zoning-of-chairmanship-position-to-north\/","title":{"rendered":"PDP NEC approves zoning of chairmanship position to North"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National executive committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the zoning of the national chairmanship position to the north.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed on Thursday by the PDP spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan while briefing journalists after a closed-door meeting of the NEC in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>The development came days after governors elected on the platform of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/07\/pdp-nec-meeting-begins-in-abuja\/\">PDP<\/a> voted in favour of zoning the position to the north.<\/p>\n<p>According to the PDP spokesman, the north and the south would also swap current party positions accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 94th NEC of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held today and well considered the report of governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on zoning and NEC approves the zoning as presented, which as you understand, the positions that are in the south, will go to the north and the positions that are in the north will go to the south,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Ologbondiyan added that\u00a0the party is yet to take a decision on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/01\/zoning-may-leave-nigeria-with-two-useless-presidential-candidates-in-2023-says-sanusi\/\">zoning<\/a> of the presidential ticket.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the NEC may schedule another meeting to discuss the report of the Bala Mohammed committee on the party\u2019s performance in the past presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>Ologbondiyan added that the national convention of the party slated for October 30 and 31 will hold as scheduled.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National executive committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the zoning of the national chairmanship position to the north.
