{"id":91825,"date":"2021-10-11T05:38:47","date_gmt":"2021-10-11T04:38:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=91825"},"modified":"2021-10-11T05:38:47","modified_gmt":"2021-10-11T04:38:47","slug":"ibedc-restores-power-to-ogun-communities-after-herbalists-removed-sacrifice-from-isolator-switch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/11\/ibedc-restores-power-to-ogun-communities-after-herbalists-removed-sacrifice-from-isolator-switch\/","title":{"rendered":"IBEDC restores power to Ogun communities after herbalists removed sacrifice from isolator switch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) restored power to Magboro, Makogi, Oke-Afa, Ibafo and Orimerimun communities in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State after some herbalists were contacted to remove sacrifice from an isolator switch.<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered that some unknown persons in the community had chained the isolator switch and placed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/09\/21\/uk-police-plead-for-information-on-nigerian-boy-allegedly-killed-as-a-human-sacrifice-in-london\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sacrifice<\/a> and some charms around the electrical gadget to scare away officials of the distribution company and stop them from switching off their power.<\/p>\n<p>The action became necessary following a week of blackout which resulted in some Magboro residents challenging IBEDC over the epileptic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/04\/22\/businesses-in-nigeria-lose-29bn-annually-to-erratic-power-supply-says-world-bank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">power supply<\/a> in their area.<\/p>\n<p>However, IBEDC officials appeared not to be happy with the development as they disconnected power to the area from their office at Oke Aro.<\/p>\n<p>According to PUNCH, the sacrifice and charms were removed on Friday by some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/08\/07\/how-we-butchered-our-customer-who-came-for-money-ritual-sold-body-parts-herbalists-confess\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">herbalists<\/a> contracted by residents.<\/p>\n<p>The President of the Magboro Movement on IBEDC, Moses Omoniyi, who confirmed that power has been restored to the community said the community development committee and the IBEDC had a meeting on the issue.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cThe sacrifice has been removed. The IBEDC and the CDC of Magboro had a meeting and got some herbalists that helped in removing it (sacrifice) on Friday. The communities were powered yesterday (Saturday), but Magboro had power this evening (Sunday).
