{"id":9325,"date":"2021-03-16T17:55:13","date_gmt":"2021-03-16T16:55:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=9325"},"modified":"2021-03-16T17:55:13","modified_gmt":"2021-03-16T16:55:13","slug":"dpr-seals-five-filling-stations-for-overpricing-in-ilorin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/16\/dpr-seals-five-filling-stations-for-overpricing-in-ilorin\/","title":{"rendered":"DPR seals five filling stations for overpricing in Ilorin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has sealed five filling stations in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara state for\u00a0various offences including over-pricing and under-dispensing.<\/p>\n<p>Engineer Sule Yusuf, the controller of Ilorin field office of the DPR said the affected filling stations were part of 35 filling stations monitored by officials of the agency across the metropolis.<\/p>\n<p>Yusuf said;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-transform: initial\">\u201cWe observed that operators seem to be taking laws into their hands by selling over what government has allowed them to sell, especially, for Petrol.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201dWe\u2019ve been going out to monitor before, and we\u2019ll continue to do that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday is just special because we\u2019re out to monitor price, quality, quantity and pump efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo teams of the DPR officials went out this morning in different directions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe visited about 35 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/13\/fuel-price-nnpc-reacts-to-long-queues-says-no-need-for-panic-buying\/\">filling stations<\/a> out of which two absconded and sealed. They know the consequences.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The DPR Controller also said that\u00a0the affected stations will &#8221;only be reopened when they show remorse, pay sanction fees and comply.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Yusuf added;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-transform: initial\">\u201cAbout three stations were caught over-pricing. We\u2019ve forced them to bring the price down to the allowable range and they\u2019ve complied so that they don\u2019t continue cheating the public.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201dFor now, there\u2019s no increase in pump price, so they have to comply.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf any station is selling above window range of N162 and N165 per litre, people should inform the authority.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll visit those stations and force them to comply in addition to sanction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOperators are advised to play the game according to rules to avoid being sanctioned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, they are out to make profits but not at the detriment of majority of the public.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has sealed five filling stations in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara state for\u00a0various offences including over-pricing and under-dispensing.
