{"id":9348,"date":"2021-03-16T19:20:06","date_gmt":"2021-03-16T18:20:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=9348"},"modified":"2021-03-16T21:12:24","modified_gmt":"2021-03-16T20:12:24","slug":"zamfara-dpo-who-was-accused-of-working-with-bandits-has-been-redeployed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/16\/zamfara-dpo-who-was-accused-of-working-with-bandits-has-been-redeployed\/","title":{"rendered":"Zamfara DPO who was accused of working with bandits has been redeployed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police authorities have reportedly redeployed a divisional police officer (DPO) in Kaura-Namoda who was accused of conniving with bandits terrorising the area.<\/p>\n<p>The redeployment was announced on Monday, March 15 by the police public relations officer in the state, Mohammed Shehu.<\/p>\n<p>The PPRO\u00a0revealed that no formal complaint has been lodged against the DPO in respect to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/13\/endsars-protest-feminist-coalition-reacts-to-n23m-fraud-allegation\/\">allegation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The former DPO was redeployed\u00a0to the police command headquarters as OC provost, while Umar Abdullahi, an assistant commissioner of police\u00a0has been appointed as acting DPO of the Division.<\/p>\n<p>Shehu also enjoined\u00a0members of the public, especially the aggrieved community with credible evidence against the DPO, to come to the Police Command Headquarters and assist in the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n<p>He said;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-transform: initial;\">\u201cThe attention of the Zamfara State Police Command has been drawn to a viral video trending on social media platforms wherein the communities of Kungurki village, in Kaura Namoda LGA, accused the DPO of Kaura Namoda Division of conniving with recalcitrant armed bandits who were making life unbearable for the people.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAvailable records at the command revealed no formal complaint against the DPO in respect of the allegation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, the command enjoins members of the public, especially the aggrieved community, that any person or group with credible evidence against the DPO, should come to the Police Command Headquarters and assist in the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe DPO, as a custodian of peace and tranquility, has the mandate to interact and engage with the two warring Hausa and Fulani bandit communities to a dialogue so as to strengthen the ongoing peace process of the state government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Members of the public with credible evidence against the former DPO are to\u00a0contact the acting DPO through his phone number\u2013 08162793939.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police authorities have reportedly redeployed a divisional police officer (DPO) in Kaura-Namoda who was accused of conniving with bandits terrorising the area.
