{"id":93656,"date":"2021-10-15T05:40:55","date_gmt":"2021-10-15T04:40:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=93656"},"modified":"2021-10-15T05:44:56","modified_gmt":"2021-10-15T04:44:56","slug":"buhari-to-insurance-companies-honor-your-customers-claim-in-good-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/15\/buhari-to-insurance-companies-honor-your-customers-claim-in-good-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Buhari to insurance companies: Honor your customers claim in good time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nigeria&#8217;s President Muhammadu Buhari has called on insurance firms to honour the claims of their customers promptly.<\/p>\n<p>This call was made on Thursday by the president<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0during his conferment ceremony as the grand patron of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (<a href=\"https:\/\/ciinigeria.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>CIIN) <\/strong><\/a><\/span>in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The president, who commended their role in national development, implored the companies to further increase the number of Nigerians and businesses that would benefit from and be benefited by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/06\/15\/insecurity-imo-govt-to-introduce-life-insurance-for-police-officers\/\">insurance<\/a> industry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u2018As you are well aware, you need to dispel misconceptions about the insurance industry presently held by a good number of Nigerians, especially as it relates to claims and need for insurance,\u201d Buhari said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u2018\u2018As I have said on many occasions and would continue to reiterate, it is my commitment to leave a sustainable growth and development legacy by the end of this administration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u2018\u2018Furthermore, the insurance industry as a whole must improve its efficiency and honour claims in good time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Buhari thanked players in the insurance industry, including the CIIN, for supporting the government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He highlighted the industry\u2019s contribution of N500 million to support the fight against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/10\/13\/covid-19-kills-another-unvaccinated-person-in-edo\/\">COVID-19 pandemic<\/a> in its early days in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He added that granting of insurance cover for all frontline health workers at concessionary premiums contributed significantly to the globally acclaimed success of Nigeria\u2019s national response to the pandemic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Buhari promised to continue providing the necessary support to the industry to ensure that the country maximises its contribution to socio-economic growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u2018\u2018Once the National Assembly has finished the process of reviewing the Consolidated Insurance Bill 2020 and is forwarded to me, I would speedily subject it to the necessary executive checks and sign it into law,\u2019\u2019 he assured.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The president further expressed appreciation on the conferment of the fellowship award as the grand patron of the institute, describing it as an \u201chonour.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In his remarks, Muftau Oyegunle, CIIN president, lauded the Buhari-led administration\u2019s sustained efforts to eliminate poverty in the country through initiatives such as the national social investment programme, among others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u2018\u2018These programmes and many others have impacted Nigerians.
