Muhyi Magaji Rimin-Gado, the sacked Kano Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission chief, is scheduled to appear before a Magistrates Court to answer questions over forgery accusations leveled against him by the police.<\/p>\n

Rimin-Gado is scheduled to appear in Kano State Magistrates Court on accusations of forgery and false information.<\/p>\n

After honouring a police invitation on the same accusations, the beleaguered ex-anti-graft chief was granted administrative release.<\/p>\n

Rimin-Gado, who was suspended following the recommendation of the state assembly, is contending with a petition written against the state\u2019s accountant general.<\/p>\n

Although a court of competent jurisdiction had granted an exparte order resisting the police or any agent of the state from arresting, harassing or intimidating the ex-anti-graft boss, it was learnt that police had concluded a fresh First Information Report (FIR) before a magistrates court.<\/p>\n

A reliable source, who wanted to remain anonymous, told newsmen that after several failed attempts to arrest and prosecute him, the Police on Monday detained one Muktar Magaji who stood as surety for him.<\/p>\n

It was learnt that Muktar, a relative of the embattled Rimin-Gado, was released hours later with a caveat to produce the accused before the magistrate on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

When contacted, the spokesman of the police, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed that the investigation on the charges of alleged forgery and false information will resume soon.<\/p>\n

Kiyawa equally confirmed that one Mukhtar Magaji, who stood as a surety for him, was invited from Dawakin Tofa on Monday and was made to enter into an undertaken to produce the suspended anti-graft boss to face trial on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the accused has declared readiness to appear before any court against the charges but he was not sure of his safety.<\/p>\n

He alleged that the charge was trumped up and \u201ca clear case of persecution<\/a>\u201d as well as being a part of the plan to lock him up and harm him.<\/p>\n

Speaking on telephone with our reporter, Rimin-Gado wondered why the police, who according to him, had earlier found nothing against him and released his international passport, have now come up with the charge of giving false information.<\/p>\n

Before he was replaced, Rimin-Gado has raised concerns about high-power interference in the agency\u2019s activities.<\/p>\n

Although he rejected an accountant sent from the office of accountant general, Rimin-Gado had raised issues on alleged corrupt practices involving a powerful family in government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
