{"id":9999,"date":"2021-03-18T07:30:36","date_gmt":"2021-03-18T06:30:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/?p=9999"},"modified":"2021-03-18T09:06:02","modified_gmt":"2021-03-18T08:06:02","slug":"ibori-loot-niger-delta-group-goes-to-court-accuses-fg-of-financial-terrorism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/18\/ibori-loot-niger-delta-group-goes-to-court-accuses-fg-of-financial-terrorism\/","title":{"rendered":"Ibori loot: Niger Delta group goes to court, accuses FG of financial terrorism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A lawsuit challenging the federal government to declare itself sole owner of $4.2million recovered from former Governor of Delta state, James Ibori by the British Government <span style=\"text-transform: initial\">has been filed before the Federal High Court in Asaba by the Niger Delta Democratic Union, (NDDU).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The group in a press statement released by its <span style=\"text-transform: initial\">facilitator, Dr Akpo Mudiaga Odje accused the federal<\/span> government of financial terrorism and gluttony.<\/p>\n<p>The group reiterated that the\u00a0people of Delta State lucidly possess the undisputable allodial title over these funds, and as such, should be the exclusive beneficiaries of same.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-transform: initial\">\u201cWe have watched with paralyzing suspicion, the galaxy of controversies and cocktails of cacophony trailing the returned loot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are however appalled by the Federal Government\u2019s unilateral decision to sequestrate and\/or declare sole ownership over the said \u00a34.2million by deciding how same is to be put into use and which said usage is regrettably for developing areas outside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/news\/2021\/03\/10\/fg-should-return-e4-2-million-ibori-loot-to-delta-state-%e2%80%95-falana\/\">Delta State<\/a>, which is actually the real owner of these returned funds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndeed, to us and the tendencies we represent, this is an act of financial terrorism and fiscal gluttony to say the least. The people of Delta State lucidly possess the undisputable allodial title over these funds, and as such, should be the exclusive beneficiaries of same.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn that spirit of proclivity for justice and in concord with even the scanty fiscal federal implants in the 1999 Constitution, we have through the labyrinth and groundswell of unanimity decided to challenge the centrifugal pasturing of the Federal Government on this vexed issue, as adumbrated by the Attorney General of the Federation .<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccordingly ,an action has been filed at the Federal High Court, Asaba to challenge this unprovoked onslaught and unrestrained belligerence against our Constitution and the People of Delta State.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A lawsuit challenging the federal government to declare itself sole owner of $4.2million recovered from former Governor of Delta state, James Ibori by the British Government has been filed before the Federal High Court in Asaba by the Niger Delta Democratic Union, (NDDU).
