“My First 4 Nights in Lagos was Spent Under Ijora Bridge”- Jude Okoye Reveals

Despite their nasty family feud, Jude Okoye is still thankful.

Posting on his Instagram today, the former manager of P-Square revealed that he slept under the Ijora bridge in Lagos because he couldn’t afford to pay for place to stay, and more especially because he was hustling the music industry, seeking for a breakthrough.

“My first 4 nights in Lagos in 1995 was spent under ijora bridge stranded cos of music hustle. Had to do conductor work route ijora – jibowu everyday to survive,” said the elder brother of Peter and Paul Okoye.

While he did not mention names, fans, who have followed the Okoye family journey, know that the hustle was to pave a way for his twin brothers, Peter and Paul, who would eventually become Africa’s most-successful band in recent time.

Sadly, P-Square broke up because Peter felt he was being disrespected.

“In life what we call family value is important. The fans want P-Square but how many times do you want P-Square to come back and break up? We’ve broken up three times and the same issue is still there,” said the singer-dancer who now uses the stage name “Mr. P”. Adding, “So if P-Square is going to come back we need to settle that issue. P-Square might come back, they might not come back.”

“I pulled out the plug because I felt the disrespect coming from my family [was] getting too much. There’s something we call marginalisation. Don’t ever be a slave because you want to be family,” he continued.

“P-Square can only come back if the respect comes 100%. I don’t disrespect my brother’s wife, neither his family, but he does that to me all the time. He’ll insult me and my family in public, on Instagram, and the next minute he’ll wait for me backstage for us to perform together. I can’t do that. One thing is for sure, I took a vow to protect my wife and kids the day I got married and I stick to that,” he added.
