Why I am still stylish despite being a police officer – Dolapo Badmus reveals

Every 4th August is a remarkable day for the indifatigable CSP Dolapo Badmos because it’s her birthday. This year’s wasn’t different as her birthday was marked in a grand style. The first leg of the celebration started on the 3rd of August at the popular Sidewalk Club, situated at Sanusi Fafunwa Street on Victoria Island Lagos, as the owner, Kunle Adegbite played host to CSP Dolapo Badmos on her birthday.

The reception was grand as everything in that club that night radiated the image of the birthday girl as she stepped majestically into the venue like a queen with her friends, family members and well-wishers who came to felicitate with her on the day.

The motive for the get-together was not far to seek, according to Oba Olalekan Dosunmu- Akinsiku of Lagos (Alaworo eyo of Lagos), who was also at the party early enough before the arrival of the celebrator. In his word, “CSP Dolapo Badmos, is one of her kind; she’s a very good person, a super woman, a loving and caring person. She loves everybody. She always loves to protect everybody around her. She is a wonderful and great person. Doing this for her, I believe, she deserves it even much more than this. I have to be here to celebrate her because she has always been there for me,’’ he remarked

Among the celebrities who graced the occasion were Small Doctor, 9ice, Gloria Ibru, Chioma Akpotha and many others. The second part was on the d-day at Testimony Place, located at 5, Akiogun road by Oniru market road, Lekki, Lagos where a thanksgiving service was held to appreciate God for His grace that enabled the celebrator to record one more birthday this year.

The service as scheduled started at 10am and it played host to many celebrities, DPOs and other colleagues who love her.

Speaking at the event, the Senior Pastor and founder of the church, Testimony Place, Pastor Amos Fenwa, who spoke on life as a journey. Said that; “Life can be divided into 4 stages. We have the Morning, Afternoon, Evening and Night. Morning is when you are just starting life and there are so many things you don’t understand about life. When you get to the afternoon of your life, you are getting to understand what life is all about. The maturity of people in life has nothing to do with age; it is the responsibility you are learning to pick as a young person. There are people, who are 40, but they behave like 20 year old, meanwhile we have those who are 20, but behave like they are 40, What I want you to know is that life is a journey. What will make the journey sweet is to have the presence of God around you always. I pray the presence of God will journey with us throughout our lives in Jesus name, amen.’’

After the brief exhortation, Pastor Fenwa prayed for the celebrator, which was followed by the cutting of the cake.

CSP Dolapo in her testimony spoke on why she is stylish despite being a police officer, “I want to start by giving God all the glory because wherever we are on this planet earth we ascribe all the glory to God Almighty. I want to thank God for bringing me forth into existence and for backing it up. My testimony is a short long story. It look my mother some years before she could bring me up and when I came, the expectation was that I was going to be a boy as there was no scan then, except signs, like when one side expecially, the pregnant woman was having too much pains on the left than the right side they would say it was an indication that the coming child might be a boy.

Everything my mother felt during my pregnancy, the story has it that it was like a boy was on the way, but when I came forth behold it was a girl. Like my mum said there was something that struck her and she said well though she came like a girl, but she would have the strenght of a man. When I started growing up everything started showing and it was like she is a boy. Up till now, a lot of people said I behave like a man I don’t know whether it is true or not, but eveything within me I want to show forth that woman side, that is why you will see I do so much fashion to look like a woman, I always make sure I am stylish despite being Police Officer, because when I am acting like a man. I should not be careless about the way I dress, so that I don’t become totally a man.

CSP Dolapo also appreciated everyone who came especially those who, in one way or the other, contributed towards the success of the glorious event, all musicians who performed without taking money from her, Kunle Adegbite of Sidewalk Club, who played host to her, Kokun Foundation that provided food and drinks for guests and all the well-wishers including the media that covered the event.

Among those who came to celebrate with CSP Dolapo Badmos were. Gbenga Adeyinka, Diekola, Dare justify, Seun Aransiola and many more.

The concluding part of the celebration was when CSP Dolapo Badmos proved to the world that her love for humanity is unquantifiable as she took her birthday celebration to Kirikiri medium prison in Apapa, after the thanksgiving service held at Testimony Place.

At their church, warders and the prisoners gave the birthday girl an impressive reception. The Pastor, Kabiru welcomed CSP Badmos and her entourage. He introduced her to the inmates and the CSP also spoke to the inmates, “I am very happy standing in front of you all to celebrate my birthday, I was a bit surprised and disappointed today because I thought here I would meet people who are depressed and not looking happy, but the reverse is the case and I am happy. Prison is not your permanent home. Always have the belief that you would get your freedom one day.” She further advised them to behave themselves as that is their ticket to freedom and to always follow the prison’s rules and regulations so that some might be lucky to get pardon from the state or federal government if their record merited it. CSP Dolapo urged them that when they eventually get their freedom, they should not go back to the acts that brought them to prison. She told them to live a good life because there is always hope for them outside the prison.

After the brief exhortation, one of the inmates, who is the pastor of the inmates fellowship, showed appreciation on behalf of the inmates to CSP Dolapo Badmos for finding time to visit them. He begged the celebrator to help them step into the issues of some inmates, who have spent over 5 to 10 years in the prison awaiting trial.

There was a session of cake cutting by the celebrator surrounded by inmates and her entourage. She also danced with them before the ceremony was brought to a close.
