NYSC member shares more details on family of 5 battling mental illness in Cross River (photo)

Such is the case of a serving youth corps member currently serving in Cross River state simply identified as Progress Oberiko.

Though in Nigeria, it is common to see mentally ill men and women roaming the streets, sometimes these women are seen nursing babies. However, it is not common to see a complete family with mental illness roaming the streets as a pack.

She revealed that the family, especially their father is well versed in the bible and that she found out later that the man was an evangelist before his present state.

She also discovered that the man will not collect any gift from you except he asked for it. He will also not take anything that does not have seven in it. He will beg you for N700 and if you give him more or less he will reject.

Progress also revealed that the reason behind his request is that they are seven in his family, himself, his wife and five children and that his two eldest children have been taken away by the wife’s family.

We have earlier reported that a youth corps member currently serving in Cross River left many people stunned after she took to social media to share a photo of a family comprising a man, his wife and their three kids, all mentally challenged in Ogoja, Cross River.

Progress Oberiko revealed that not only are they always sighted together, they also communicate in fluent English, making the puzzle about how they became mad even more complex. And maybe you would like this too; Classmates stop Nigerian boy‘s deportation (Photo)
