Nigeria’s very own African bad gyal, Tiwa Savage, snagged the award for Best African Act 2018 and we couldn’t be more happy for the mother of one.

Savage has joined the list of Nigerian musicians who have been honoured with this award ever since the creation of the show. Following this, we compiled a list of Nigerian music celebrities that have been honoured with the MTV EMA Best African Act award.

1. Tiwa Savage, 2018

The self-proclaimed African bad gyal and First Lady of the Stew gang has not caught a break ever since her music career kicked off. Dropping hit after it, the year 2018 has proven to be a good one for the mother of one. Thus, it came as no surprise that she was honoured with the award for Best African Act, 2018.

2. Davido, 2017

The 30 billion gang leader is another determined and hardworking musician who’s been getting massive recognition all over the world. The hit maker was honoured with the award for Best African Act, 2017 following the release of songs like If, Fall, Like That and Touch all proving to be successful hits.

3. D’banj, 2012 and 2007

Music veteran, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, better known by his stage name, D’banj was one of the few musicians who came into the industry with a big bang and has got awards to prove it. He not only received the award in 2007 but also in 2012. With songs like Igwe, Fall In Love and Why Me, it comes as no surprise he honoured with the prestigious award.

4. 2baba, 2005

The music legend is one of the few Nigerian singers that have managed to stay relevant in the Nigerian entertainment industry. Ever since his sojourn into the industry as a solo artiste, the former Plantashun Boiz member has continued to win hearts with his musical talents. He was the 2005 MTV EMA Best African Act award winner and it came as little surprise to many.
