Nigerian soldier celebrates birthday on the battlefield (Photo)

The Nigerian soldiers have put out their best in fighting the Boko Haram terrorists in north eastern states of Nigeria. Some have lost their lives during the war while others are lucky to be alive.

On Tuesday, December 18, a Twitter user Abubakar Mohd Kareto (@amkareto) took to his handle to share picture of a Nigerian soldier who turned a year older on the battlefield.

He wished the young man a happy birthday and urged some of his followers to help celebrate the soldier on his special day.

His post reads: “Nigerian soldier fighting Boko Haram terrorists, marks his birthday on the battlefield against all odds, let’s wish him a happy birthday please!

Looking at the picture, the young soldier could be seen carrying his birthday cake with broad smiles on his face. There were also two packs of soft drinks and bottles of wines on a bench. Despite being in the bush, he surely had a memorable birthday.

It was earlier reported that former chief of army administration, Major-General Garba Wahab, reacted to the death of 44 soldiers who were recently killed by Boko Haram insurgents at the Nigerian Army base in Borno state. He blamed the attack on a military base in Metele, a remote village near the border with the Niger Republic, on information leakage
