David de Gea wants more than £90 million contract being offered at Manchester United

Manchester United fear star goalkeeper David de Gea wants more than the £90 million contract the club are offering as they look to re-sign the Spanish international.

The 28-year-old’s current contract runs out at the end of the 2019/20 season, after United activated a club option one-year club extension to keep de Gea at Old Trafford, and both de Gea and the Red Devils have been working towards a new contract.

However, the club are now worried the representatives for the goalkeeper are pricing them out of retaining his services, according to reports by ESPN.

Manchester United have reportedly offered de Gea a five-year contract worth £350,000 per week, which would have him as the third-highest paid player at the club behind only Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez, but the lack of agreement at this stage has officials concerned they may not be able to afford his demands.

The deal would be worth a staggering £90 million over the five years of the contract should de Gea sign it, making him the highest-paid gloveman of all time.

Both Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have been linked with moves for de Gea in recent years as his future at Old Trafford was cloudy under former manager Jose Mourinho.

PSG would arguably be able to beat United’s massive contract offer.
