Millionaire Cancels Competition For His Virgin Daughter – As Her Choice Is ‘Too Handsome’

A millionaire trader has cancelled the competition for his daughter’s hand in marriage – because her preferred suitor was ‘too handsome’.

Arnon Rodthong, 58, was frustrated that Karnsita, 26, is still single while helping to run the family business in Chumphon province, southern Thailand.

While local custom dictates a man should pay a dowry – and university graduate Karnsita would command a high fee – Mr Rodthong has waved the payment.

Instead he revealed in a Facebook post that he will give his future son-in-law 10m Thai baht (240,000GBP) plus they will have a stake in his sprawling durian farm valued at several millions of pounds.

Over 10,000 men applied with 28-year-old Premyosapon Khongsai the front runner.

Posting a photo of himself, he wrote: “I’m interested. I am 28 years old. My family also grows durian in Trat province. We have over 300 trees… I can weather the sun and the rain.

“I can drive a 10-wheel truck and tractor. Please consider me, father Arnon. Thank you.”

Karnsita said he was ‘pretty cute’ but dad Arnon told reporters: “Premyosapon doesn’t pass for me because he is too handsome. He might break my daughter’s heart.”

He also said he was calling off the challenge – but will still give the cash to any future son in law.

Earlier in the week the millionaire said his future son-in-law must meet three important requirements to marry his daughter, who speaks English and Chinese fluently.

Mr Rodthong said there are also no restrictions on what nationally the successful applicant should be.

But his top three requirements are:

  1. “He doesn’t have to be that smart – just able to read and write. Please don’t bring your degrees to cluster the house.”
  2. “Hard working and not lazy.”
  3. “Stingy about money and loves durian.”
