Barely 48 hours after Naira Marley received backlash for attempting to use slavery to justify internet fraud, the rapper is set to release a song to glorify the illegal act, known as ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ in Nigeria.
The forthcoming single by Naira Marley is titled ‘Am I a Yahoo Boy?’ featuring his colleague and supporter of his views about ‘Yahoo Yahoo’, Zlatan Ibile. It was produced by burgeoning music producer, Rexxie.
Zlatan Ibile, in his lyrics for the song, made a statement that may prompt the anti-graft agencies to investigate him and his friends, he sings in Yoruba language, saying “Yahoo lawon ore mi se…,” which means “my friends are into yahoo” in English language.
In Naira Marley’s comment about ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ on social media, he said; “If you know about slavery you go know say yahoo no be crime.” The comment received a lot of reactions across all social media platforms, with Nigerians sharing their views on internet fraud.
Social media influencer Tunde Ednut, veteran rapper Ruggedman and entertainment writer Adeyinka Oluwamayowa criticized Naira Marley for his comment, but other male celebrities like Davido and Zlatan defended him.
