Sanusi, Ganduje meet at Eid prayer ground

Twenty-four hours after the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission recommended the suspension of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi ll, he and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje yesterday met the at Eid prayer ground, Kofar Mata, Kano.

Ganduje and emir Sanusi observed their two raka’at congressional prayer led by the latter. Immediately after the prayer, the emir approached the governor for a handshake.

The commission had recommended Sanusi’s suspension pending the determination of its investigation into an alleged misappropriation of over N3.4bn by the emir.

The commission also recommended further legal action to be taken against all the persons investigated as soon as the outcome of investigations is concluded.

In his sermon at the Eid prayer ground, Sanusi charged Nigerians to continue to pray for the peace and progress of the country.

He specifically urged the people of Kano State to pray against banditry, kidnapping and other vices.

The emir appealed to political leaders to prioritize girl-child education for sustainable development of the country.

He urged politicians to caution their followers against turning Sallah festivities into political campaign.

“I call on people to know that fasting and Sallah festivities are for all Muslims, it is not political gathering. It is period of unity and jubilation. I call on people, especially political leaders to fear God and avoid any act that will spoil their 30 days of fasting.”
