‘Struggle To Keep Up, Fear Of Failure’: Singer Simi Lists Why Young Men Fall Into Depression

Versatile Nigerian songstress, Simi bares her mind on depression that’s rampant in the society nowadays.

The singer, songwriter and music engineer itemized some reasons why young men get depressed while answering some questions on her official twitter page.

When asked to relay her thoughts on the wave of depression in recent days, the ‘Jamb Question’ crooner, described it as sad and scary situation.

In her words; “It’s scary and sad. Especially for young men. The struggle to keep up. The fear of failure. The desperate desire for validation. Very scary. I hope that we can let people know it’s ok to share and lean on someone when things get too heavy,” Simi said.

The World Health Organisation, WHO, ranked Nigeria as the most depressed African country, with 3.9% of its population suffering from depressive disorders. 7 million Nigerians diagnosed with the condition.
