Kidnappers abduct reverend father in Kogi, demand N20m ransom

Suspected kidnappers at the weekend abducted the Reverend father in charge of Ascension Catholic parish, Ihakpu-Awka in Igboeze South Local Government Area of Enugu State, Rev. Celestine Ezeh, while on his way back from Abuja.

It was gathered that he was returning from Abuja en route his parish in Nsukka when another car with three occupants overtook his car, blocked it and abducted him at Ejule in Kogi State. He was the lone occupant in his car.

Although the car Rev. Fr. Eze was travelling in has been recovered, his whereabouts is yet to be known. However, it was gathered that the kidnappers had established contact with the Bishop of Nsukka and are demanding N20 million as ransom.

Family sources said while efforts are being made to plead with his abductors for his unconditional release knowing that Catholics do not succumb to paying ransom, all Reverend fathers in Nsukka dioceses gathered at Ascension Parish, Ihakpu, Awka, yesterday to celebrate mass and offered prayers for his quick release.
