COZA Scandal: Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo and Busola Dakolo’s Rape Allegation, Kemi Olunloyo Findings- A Need For Proper Perspective

Kemi Olunloyo, The Dakolos

There are always three sides to every story, your side, their side, and the truth, while it is very easy to take sides with the side we chose to believe, we must strive to stand for the truth.

Jacked into a frenzy of huge surprise, or let me say rude shock, on the 28th of July 2019, the entire nation woke up to a seemingly impossible video confession of Nigerian’s popular soul singer, Timi Dakolo’s wife, Busola Dakolo.

The video which lasted for over an hour revealed a detailed rape allegation against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo.

Granting the audience to Y! Tv, she narrates her ordeal of how she was raped by the senior pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA, she recounts;

“There was no GSM then. I didn’t know and he came to my house. My house then, the gate was opened but the living room is where you just knock the door and someone will come downstairs and open the door. However, my mum had travelled with my younger sister. It was just I and my elder sister at home.

“The house was a duplex so big that if you are in a room upstairs you won’t know what’s going on downstairs. So I came down normally, it was 6:30 am to 7 am pretty early, and I heard a knock. Ah, who’s that, Pastor Biodun. I couldn’t say anything because what he doing here this early?.

“Immediately I opened the door, he just pushed me. He didn’t say anything, didn’t utter any word, he just pushed me to one of the chairs in my living room and I saw him, he was removing his belt.

“So I was like what? And he said, ‘keep quiet, do what I want and you will be fine’. At this point, a whole lot was going on in my head because he was someone I had put up here and I thought was really really concerned about me. I had already filled him in the place of a father that could speak to me, guide me and he was there about to do something I did not believe.

“When I was about to react, he covered my mouth and when he did he said, Busola, listen to me and you will be fine, just do what I want you to do.

“I didn’t struggle, I just left him and he brought out his penis. I was wearing a nightgown and pant, he pulled down my pant found difficulty to enter I was grunting, I would cry and he eventually penetrated, blood dropped on the floor.

“At that point, he finished what he wanted to do, had an orgasm and he zipped up. He left me there, I just sat on the floor and he went out.

“It looks just like an event but after that whole lot damaged within me. He entered his car, came back with Crest a soft drink with green content. It was already opened so he just poured it in my mouth and I had to swallow as he did that.

“He tapped me and said, you should be happy I’m the one that did this to you and he said I’ll see you and he left.

“He said, ‘be happy a man of God did this to you, deflower you’. At this point he was already a pastor in Ilorin, his wife had given birth to their first child Shindara and I was in the choir.”

Rage spiked the internet has Nigerians began to flood various social media outlet, pouring out their grievances over the rape allegation laid against the prominent senior pastor of Common Wealth Of Zion (COZA), Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, who many accord respect as a spiritual leader who was supposed to live and lead a pious life.

Others took a different stand accusing Busola Dakolo of wanting to defame the popular cleric, placing a dent on his character and reputation to also bring the revered man of God to dust.

Responding to the rape allegation laid against him, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo in a written statement denied the allegation, he said  ”I have never raped before.” He described the allegations as ”fallacious”, ”non-existent” adding that ”they are denied in all measures.” “Looking at her status and that of her husband, I am dumbfounded why she would say such a thing,”

Seeking justice for his wife, Timi Dakolo staged a 7 days protest which was planned to happen at the COZA  church in Abuja and Lagos from Sunday, June 30 – Sunday, July 7.

Surprising, Busola Dakolo’s confession seems to erupt a revolution, as various people were beginning to come out to share their sxxual indecency with Pastor Biodun, one of such person is an unidentified young woman who has decided to keep her identity hidden, also came out to accuse the pastor of rape.

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo finally stepped aside after a massive protest by rights group who demands his resignation as pastor of the church, stating that either a lie or not, he should step down.

Also airing her voice on the allegation, the cleric’s wife, also a preacher like her husband, Pastor Modele addressing members of the CommonWealth Of Zion (COZA), during a church service said;

“Pastor doesn’t want me to talk. It’s fine. I just want to say ‘we love you’. You are our pastor; nobody can take your place.

“We have strangers in this house — strange sons and daughters. But God will close the heavens over them in the name of Jesus.

“It’s always good to assure people that you love them, not only when you feel that everything is fine with them, even much more when you feel that they are not. You know your friends when you are in trouble. So, we don’t want you to doubt in your heart. As for Modele, until I see Jesus, my surname cannot change. So, you better calm down.

“We love you and you have always taught us well. You have always stood on that stage to teach us that even though anybody might be coming from anywhere, God loves them and accepts them. You have never preached condemnation; you have never preached that we cannot change or make it.

“Nobody on earth can take your place in our lives.”

Taking it further, the couple, Timi and Busola Dakolo filed a case against the cleric with the Nigeria Police who is believed to do their investigation, to bring to light the truth in the matter.

Timi said; “You raped a child twice in the space of four days and threatened to hurt her family if she spoke out. How you strangle a child in the back of your Benz and have the boldness to tell her “it is good that it is me that is doing this to you” still breaks me. Where do you get off saying “as you pastor grace covers me”, how low can you get? and how evil can you be??? No smear campaign will work…we are ready and the church…the real church who has heard enough is ready too! #Unbroken #TruthWillAlwaysFindItsWay #SueUsIfYouDare #NotInMyChurch,” he wrote.

While it is convenient to take stand with anyone you’re positively emotionally attached to whenever there is controversial matter laid against them, it imperative that everyone place sentiment of both religion and #Icanrelate aside, to get the truth side of the story, that the Just don’t suffer and the culprit goes free.

To air your voice against injustice irrespective of who is involve is a good step in the right direction but what is more honourably commendable is that beyond just speaking, you must be ready to fight the injustice that you have successfully bring to the open, meaning that the society to be safe, that injustice must never see the light of the day again.

“It is easy to take side with a grieving woman said ‘free the sheeple movement’ convener, OAP, Daddy Freeze, but we must all know that it is still an allegation and not a fact, there’s is a difference between an allegation and fact”

While we are all still awaiting the Police investigation result on the matter, Olunloyo has taken to release her own investigative results. Thou not finite but it is a step in the right direction.

Usually identified for taking a controversial part on matters, Popular Nigeria Journalist, Dr. Kemi Olunloyo, has claimed false of all the allegation laid against the cleric, according to her findings.

Known by Nigerians as the investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, said she has finished her findings on the matter and would submit them to the Nigeria Police, the Dakolo’s and Pastor Fatoyinbo’s lawyer. Here are her findings;

Still, her findings the investigation of Olunloyo has set the pace for all on what to do when matters of this nature are let out in the public, causing waves and making such rounds on the internet.

Let’s be guided not to follow the crowd on any matter of sensitivity, let’s pick a stand with the truth, irrespective of whom or what is involved.
