Two undergraduates in police net for alleged robbery

The Abia State Police Command has arrested two suspected undergraduates of the Abia State University, Uturu, over alleged possession of firearms, ammunition and robbery.

The state commissioner of police, Mr Ene Okon, who confirmed their arrest, said the suspects were arrested over an attempt to rob a 200 level Nursing Science student of the same university in her hostel at Miracle’s Lodge in Uturu.

The CP added that the suspects were arrested by the surveillance team of Uturu Police Division.

The suspects were identified as “Emmanuel Obinna, 24, a 400 level student of Geography and Ngemena Chibuike, a 200 level Linguistics student”.

It was gathered that one locally made pistol and one live cartridge were recovered from the suspects.

He, however, asked how youths with bad characters could become good leaders in the future.

The CP urged members of the community, vigilance groups, neighbourhood watch, hunters and market leaders to partner the state police command in its fight against crime and criminals in the state.
