Jidenna Bio (Age)

Jidenna Theodore Mobisson was born on the 4th of May 1985 in Wisconsin, Rapids. He is the last child out 4 children birthed by his parents. He took to writing music at a very young age back in his high school days. He spent his early childhood in Nigeria where his father worked as a University lecturer in Enugu State.

His family relocated to Milton, Massachusetts in the United States after a failed kidnap attempt on them in 1995, his mother was harassed and beaten up and his family members taken hostage. The young Jidenna had his primary education at Justine-Thomas Kindergarten and Primary School in Enugu, Nigeria.

After his relocation to the US, he founded a rap group named Black Spadez along with his high school buddies in Milton Academy then began to write, arrange and produce rap music.

The group released its first album in 2003 when Jidenna finally graduated. From Milton Academy, he gained admission into Stanford University where he majored in Ritualistic Arts. Jidenna graduated from Stanford in 2008 and pursued his career as a rapper while working as a teacher within Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens.

The Nigerian American rapper got his first record deal with Wondaland Records owned by Janelle Monae. Along with artists like Roman GianArthur, St. Beauty, Deep Cotton, and Janelle Monae, Jidenna released their first extended play titled The Eephus. In 2015, Jidenna featured Roman GianArthur in his first single Classic Man which became a major hit in the United States and made it to the 49th spot on Billboard Hot R&B Chart.

This shot the young rapper into the limelight, the song was nominated for Best Rap/Songs Collaboration in the Grammy Awards and it also earned him Best New Artist Award in 2015 at the Soul Train Awards in November 2015. In 2016, Jidenna release another single Chief Don’t Run and released his very first full studio album The Chief on the 17th of February 2017. The album is said to be a tribute to his late father.

The rising rap icon also appeared in the fifth episode of the first season of  Netflix series Luke Cage and thereafter, featured in American Comedy-drama Insecure in November 2016.

Jidenna revealed that his main rap inspiration came from veteran rapper KRS 1, Tupac Shakur and Big Daddy Kane. He developed a signature clean and dandy gentlemanly outfit with a blend of West African traditional designs. He hinted that his fashion taste was influenced by his University Professor, Philip Zimbardo.

On the other hand, Jidenna and his family visited their late father’s former place of work in Enugu State in September 2016, in order to initiate a computer engineering scholarship for the best third-year student of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), which was formerly an offshoot of Anambra State University of Science and Technology (ASUTECH).

The rapper makes most of his dough as a hip-hop artist and a producer.  He has earned as a recording artist with Wondaland Records since 2015 and also from hit singles like Classic ManYoga which all appeared in the US R&B charts. Jidenna (Which means “cling to your father”) was raised by his parents Oliver Mobisson, a Nigerian University Professor and Tama Mobisson an accountant. He revealed that his father played a strong role in nudging him towards perfection and taught him the rudiments of life. However, his father, Oliver Mobisson passed away in 2010.

The African American rapper returned to Nigeria with heavily armed AK47s and military security personnel to father’s burial ceremony. He explained that his family did not intend to have a repeat of his childhood ordeal of being kidnapped. Jidenna quoted an African proverb that says “When you are bitten by a snake, you will be afraid of even a lizard”.

 Is He Married? Wife, Girlfriend

This handsome and dashing Nigerian-American rapper is presently not yet married. The Classic Man crooner was reportedly involved with basketball analyst, Rosalyn Gold-Onwude back in 2016. Rosalyn is a reporter for the Golden State Warriors of San Fransico and a graduate of Stanford University, the same school Jidenna attended.

It appears they have spit because, in 2017, the rapper stated that he is not in a relationship with anyone. According to Jidenna, he just doesn’t have the time to cultivate a steady relationship given the demands his career places on his time. So ladies there you have it, it is safe to assume that he is single and available.

Height

The handsome half-caste is definitely a stunner. He is 6 feet 1 inch tall (1.83 m), light-skinned with a slim athletic build. He has a reddish-brown silky Caucasian hair texture and blue eyes.  He also wears a full beard which he styles very nicely.
