Missy Elliott Drops First Album After 14 Years Break, Unwraps Video For ‘Throw It Back’

Rapper Missy Elliott has debuted a collection of new songs titled ‘Iconology’ on Thursday night, August 23, 2014. The new material is the legend’s first after her 14 years hiatus.

The 48 years old has made appearances on tracks for Katy Perry and Lizzo in recent years, but has not released new material since her album The Cookbook in 2005.

Missy Eliott, alongside the ‘Iconology’ album, dropped the official music video of ‘Throw It Back’. She announced her new musical projects on social media, saying;

“This year has been a tremendous year for me…I am humbled and grateful. THANK YOU for allowing me to smell the roses. You, my fans, and God are the reason I am here and have celebrated every milestone with me!

The news of her new album comes as she prepares to be the first female rapper to receive the respected Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award on Monday, at the MTV VMAs.
