Nigerian hurdler Tobi Amusan won gold on Wednesday, August 28, after she broke Glory Alozie’s 20-year-old Africa Games record at the 12th Africa Games Women’s 100m final.

The 22-year-old retained her title by surpassing Glory Alozie’s record of 12.74s in the 1999 edition of the Games which was held in Johannesburg and setting a new one of 12.68s (-0.6) at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Morocco.

“I am happy I won the race which is the most important thing, but it was a kind of rough race for me,” Tobi said after the race.
