Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has opened up on how living in military barracks helped shape his life as a person, revealing how he even had to hawk groundnuts on the streets of Lagos to help make ends meet for his family.
The 22-year-old, whose father was in the Nigeria Army, said the discipline imbibed in him from everyone in his surrounding is what made him who he has become today.
In an interview with the BBC, Ndidi said, “I was disciplined by most of the people around me while growing up, it wasn’t only my parent who had to discipline me.
“If I behaved badly, I got disciplined by other people who were higher than my father in rank and he won’t say nothing.
“That’s how I grew up. I assisted my mother in selling groundnuts as a child but I’m grateful to God for who I’ve become today.”
